JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri's take from the federal economic stimulus could top $4 billion.
Congress was to vote Friday on the $790 billion plan. The legislation is 1,071 pages and eight inches thick. A preliminary breakdown of how the money is to be divided was prepared by the Federal Funds Information for States, a service of the National Governors Association and the National Conference of State Legislatures.
According to those figures, Missouri would receive nearly $4.4 billion for more than two dozen purposes that include everything from homeless prevention to drinking water. The largest portion of money — more than one-third of the state's share — would be for Medicaid.
The Missouri Department of Transportation would get $665 million for highways and $103 million for transit projects.
