A season which started optimistically for the No. 20 Missouri baseball team has turned gloomy after losing both games of a double-header Sunday to drop the Tigers to 1-3.

Mizzou lost the first game of the double-header 8-4 to Nevada after stranding 14 runners including leaving the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth. Starting pitcher sophomore Kelly Fick struck out five batters in six innings but allowed four runs.

Gonzaga beat the Tigers 13-9 in the second game. Sophomore starting pitcher Nick Tepesch gave up 11 runs, nine of them earned, before being pulled after the fourth inning. Senior outfielder Ryan Lollis went 3-for-5 with a double and his first home run of the season.

"You can't pinpoint just one area and say that is the area we need to get better," coach Tim Jamieson said. "It's everything. We didn't run the bases well, didn't play defense well and made mistakes at bad times."
