COLUMBIA — A 25-year-old man was arrested Sunday night on suspicion of burglarizing an acquaintance's home in the 7600 block of  Route VV.

Rocky Roop of Columbia was arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary and third-degree assault.

According to a Boone County Sheriff's Department news release, deputies responded to a trespass complaint at 7:30 p.m. Sunday after Roop had arrived at the residence of an acquaintance and began arguing with the resident.

When the resident attempted to close the door, Roop forced entry and continued to argue with the resident, the release states. He then pushed and verbally assaulted the resident before leaving the house, the release states.

Roop later turned himself in to deputies. He posted bond Sunday night.

According to Missouri Case.net, petition for a protection order was filed against Roop on Monday, but it is not known if the petition is connected to Sunday's burglary.
