Peanut product recalls

The following recalls have been announced because the products may be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems:

Wells' Dairy Inc., is expanding its recall to include certain Blue Bunny, Great Value, Hy-Vee, Sysco, Fastco, Shurfresh and Country Rich ice cream products, which were sold nationwide. The company said it has had no reports of illness. The additional items have "best used by" dates before Feb. 4, 2010, and include all lot numbers. Details: by phone at 800-331-0830.

The list includes the following items, along with these product codes:

 

International Commodity Distributor's Inc. is recalling roasted peanuts, roasted/salted peanuts, honey roasted peanuts, butter stock split peanuts, honey roasted split peanuts, and hot and spicy peanuts. None of the products have been linked to any illnesses, according to the company. The affected unit sizes range from 2 to 40 ounce with a few bulk peanut items and are in various types of packaging including bags, zip-locks, tubs, and bulk, which were made between Jan. 1, 2007, and Dec. 31, 2008, with pull by dates between 01/01/2008 and 12/31/2009.
