MU swim teams in third place at Big 12 championships

The Tigers women's team is within striking distance of second place Texas A&M at only six points behind.

COLUMBIA – After day one of the Big 12 swimming and diving championships, Missouri’s men’s and women’s teams are sitting in third.

Six events were completed at the MU Aquatic Center on Wednesday.  For the men, Texas A&M  sit atop the team rankings, with Texas just one point behind, and Missouri eight points behind the Aggies.

The top two teams are flipped on the women’s side, with  Texas in first with 80 points through the six events, Texas A&M in second with 68 and MU tied for third with University of Kansas at 62 points.

Competition starts at 10 a.m. Thursday with preliminaries for the 500-meter  freestyle, 200-meter individual medley, 50-meter freestyle and 400-meter medley relay.
