Missouri fell 12-8 to Oregon State at the DeMarini ASU Classic in Arizona. Pitcher Ian Berger struggled on the mound and was pulled after two innings.
COLUMBIA — The losing streak just keeps going for Tiger baseball.
Missouri lost its sixth straight game losing to Oregon State 12-8 on Friday afternoon in Tempe, Ariz.
"We scored runs and had better at-bats but we made mistakes in other areas," Coach Tim Jamieson said in a radio interview after the game.
Starting pitcher Ian Berger lasted only two innings after giving up four runs before being pulled for relief. Berger walked three batters and hit two other batters.
"Hard to win against good competition when you only get two innings out of your starter," Jamison said.
The Tigers (1-6) trailed the Beavers (3-1) 5-0 before catcher Trevor Coleman hit a three-run home run in the top of the fourth inning. Missouri then took the lead in the top of the sixth inning on a two-run double by senior Kyle Mach followed by an RBI double by freshman Ben Turner.
"We swung the bats pretty good," Jamieson said.
But in the bottom of the inning the Tigers gave up five runs and Missouri couldn't claw back into the game.
"For us, we have to eliminate mistakes,"Jamieson said.
In 2006, the Tigers lost nine straight games but still won an NCAA Regional that season.
The Tigers play Northern Illinois at 2 p.m. Saturday in Tempe, Ariz., in the third game of the DeMarini ASU Classic.
