LAWTON, Okla. — Military officials are investigating the death of a Missouri soldier serving time at a Fort Sill prison who was found hanging in a library closet.
Fort Sill spokeswoman Emily Kelley said an employee of Nye Library found 33-year-old Pvt. Flexner Masadao hanging in a closet on Wednesday and notified emergency responders.
Masadao was taken to a Fort Sill hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Fort Sill officials say the Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.-based soldier had earned trustee status and had been working at the post library for about six months.
His death is being investigated as a suicide, although the officials cause of death has not been released.
Masadao was serving a three-year sentence resulting from a general court-martial conviction. He was scheduled to be released in September.
