The Missouri softball team finished the three-day San Diego Classic tournament with a 9-0 five-inning victory Sunday over San Diego. Earlier in the day, Missouri, ranked No. 12 in the country, lost 2-1 to No. 4 UCLA. The Tigers finished the tournament with a 3-2 record, leaving them at 13-2 overall this season.
Against San Diego, Missouri scored six runs in the third inning and three in the sixth, including a two-run home run by Micaela Minner, her first of the season and 33rd of her career. Freshman Kristin Nottelmann earned her fourth win striking out seven batters. It was the Tigers' eighth shutout of the year.
Against UCLA, Minner singled to drive in Andee Allen in the first inning to give Missouri the early advantage. Tigers freshman pitcher Chelsea Thomas (5-2) held the Bruins to three hits, but gave up the lead when a wild pitch allowed UCLA pinch runner Grace Murray to score in the sixth.
