COLUMBIA – Cole County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 16000 block of South West Road at 1:30 p.m. Friday, to respond to a burglary that was in progress, according to a news release from the Cole County Sheriff's Department.

According to a press release, a citizen came to the house and found two subjects inside the residence. The suspects ran out of the house and into the woods, leaving their car at the house. Items from a previous burglary in Miller County were found in the car, including stolen firearms.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they established a perimeter and began to search for the suspects.  According to the release, they later called for more Cole County Deputies and members from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Deputies then served a search warrant at 13007 Minnie Street in Russellville, where over 45 stolen weapons were found, the release said. Deputies also conducted consent searches at 12708 Rockhouse Road and 4819 North Marion, also in Russellville.
