COLUMBIA — The Douglass Bulldogs boys basketball season ended abruptly Thursday night, losing 73-49 to Sturgeon in the semifinals of Class 2 District 13 play.

Sturgeon controlled the game from the start, hitting four 3-pointers in the first quarter and leading 43-16 at halftime.

Junior Amelio Lawson scored 30 points for the Bulldogs, and senior Brandon Gleason added 13 in the losing effort.

“They were extremely hot from the outside,” assistant coach Scott Williams said.
