BOONVILLE — The new Anheuser-Busch farm near Boonville is welcoming its most recent additions.
Two foals have been born at the facility in the past two weeks. Cooper, a colt, was born Feb. 23, followed by Rachel, a filly born Tuesday.
Cooper stands about 4 feet tall and weighs about 160 pounds. In keeping with the tradition of the Budweiser Clydesdales, he has white stockings, a blaze of white on his face and a black mane, which makes him an early candidate to pull one of the brewer's iconic red beer wagons.
He was named after Cooper County, where the brewer opened a 350-breeding farm late last year to house the world's largest private herd of the breed.
Jim Poole, general manager of Clydesdale operations for Anheuser-Busch, says more births are on the way. The farm has four more pregnant mares.
