KANSAS CITY — The father of a 4-year-old Kansas City girl, missing since Friday, is a person of interest in the death of the child's mother.
The woman's body was found Friday in her apartment, police said. Police have not identified the dead woman, but issued an Amber Alert on Friday for her daughter, Allyson Corrales.
Police lifted the Amber Alert on Saturday, but said they were continuing their investigation into the woman's death and the search for the missing child. The family's car, a red 1999 Kia Sportage, with Missouri license plates, is also missing.
The girl's father, Luis F. Corrales, 31, was considered a person of interest in the case, police said.
Police Capt. Rich Lockhart said the woman's body was discovered after her brother reported that he had not talked to her since Wednesday night.
An order of protection was filed against Luis Corrales in November, according to Jackson County court documents. At that time, he listed an Independence address.
In December, a judge ordered Corrales to make monthly child support payments.
