LEBANON — An Aug. 24 trial date is set for a south-central Missouri man accused of killing his wife and encasing her body in concrete.

Horst Sabla is charged in Laclede County with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife, Sharon. Deer hunters found her remains encased in concrete inside a plastic box in a wooded area of the county on Nov. 15.

A probable cause statement said the 57-year-old woman died from a small-caliber gunshot wound to the back of the head.

The statement also said Horst Sabla admitted to shooting her Aug. 9, putting her body in a black plastic cargo box and then filling the box with lime and concrete a few days later.
