Big 12 women's basketball tournament starts Thursday

COLUMBIA – The Oklahoma women’s basketball team won its sixth Big 12 Conference regular season title, earning the Sooners a No. 1 seed in the 2009 Big 12 women’s basketball tournament. The event will be played in Oklahoma City, with games beginning Thursday and going through Sunday.

Oklahoma will have a bye, along with No. 2 seed Baylor, No. 3 seed Iowa State and No. 4 seed Texas A&M. The remaining seeds are No. 5 Kansas State, No. 6 Texas, No. 7 Texas Tech, No. 8 Kansas, No. 9 Nebraska, No. 10 Oklahoma State, No. 11 Missouri and No. 12 Colorado. The winner of the tournament will receive the Big 12’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Quarterfinals are set for Friday and semifinals Saturday with the final scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Single session tickets went on sale Monday and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com, by calling 1-800-745-3000.
