COLUMBIA — After not allowing a hit in 13 consecutive innings, Missouri softball freshman Chelsea Thomas gave up eight to Northern Iowa on Wednesday inside Dan Devine Pavilion.

Thomas (9-2) also struck out a season-high eight batters and walked only one, though, and picked up her ninth win of the season with a 2-1 Missouri victory.

The Tigers' offense made the most of its three hits on the day. Junior Gina Schneider hit a two-out, tw0-RBI single to center field in the bottom of the fifth inning to score the first runs of the day for either team.

“We looked flat today as a team,” said Missouri coach Ehren Earleywine in a release. “With as good of a team as Northern Iowa was, we were lucky to get out with a one run win."

Missouri outfielders Rhea Taylor and Shana White also had one hit each.

The win improved the No. 14 Missouri's record to 19-3, while Northern Iowa is now 14-5.

Wednesday was the first time the Tigers were forced to play indoors this season due to inclement weather.

Missouri will make one last trip to a weekend tournament this season, going to Myrtle Beach, S.C., to face Coastal Carolina, Michigan State and North Carolina.
