ST. LOUIS — The man jailed in Missouri in the fatal shooting of a pastor has waived extradition to Illinois.
Lt. Lester Stewart of the St. Louis Sheriff's Department said Terry Sedlacek waived extradition on Friday and Madison County, Ill. authorities were on their way to pick him up. It wasn't immediately clear when the transfer would take place, but it was expected to be Friday afternoon.
A phone message left with Sedlacek's attorney, Ron Slemer, was not returned.
Sedlacek is charged with shooting the Rev. Fred Winters mid-sermon at First Baptist Church in Maryville, Ill.
Authorities say Sedlacek was injured with his knife when two church members subdued him. Sedlacek was released from the hospital Thursday night and is being held in the St. Louis city jail.
