COLUMBIA—Less than 25 hours after going on sale, MU's allotment of 350 NCAA first-round tickets had all been spoken for.
As of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, fans were directed elsewhere for their chance to watch the Tigers play Cornell University from the stands of Boise's Taco Bell Arena.
Mizzou Athletics released a statement today encouraging fans to contact Boise State University to purchase additional tickets, which will be available starting Thursday at 11 a.m. Central Standard Time. The full release directs inquiring fans to call 208-426-4737.
The Tigers are scheduled to take on Cornell University Friday at 2 p.m. CST.
Still thinking about making the trip? Here is some more information:
Staying on track with the spring break mood, a road trip to Idaho is a possibility. Clocking in at more than 21 hours, the drive from Columbia would rack up nearly 1,500 miles on a vehicle — one way.
If you are looking for a more time-efficient route to the "Gem state," a round-trip flight, leaving from Kansas City (MCI) Thursday and taking off from Boise (BOI) Sunday evening starts at $1,100 according to a search on Orbitz. A more budget-friendly option would be to stay an extra night in Boise and cut the airfare to the $600-700 range.
Lodging accommodations are available on a variety of sites. The Boise Chamber of Commerce provides a list of member hotels and motels. If distance to Taco Bell Arena is important, check out this Yahoo search for a few located within a mile of the basketball action.
For those not planning on making the trek, fans can still show support for the team during a "send-off" celebration scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on the south side of Mizzou Arena.
