More peanut products recalled

The following peanut product recalls have been announced because the products may be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems:

Ultimate Nut and Candy Co. is recalling three peanut containing products. No known illnesses have been reported, according to the company. The peanut products were distributed through the company's store in the Los Angeles Farmers Market and through the Internet from Jan. 1, 2007, to Feb. 13, 2009. The recalled products are coded 7001 to 7365, 8001 to 8365, and 9001 to 9044. Details: by phone at 800-767-5259.

• Ultimate Nut & Candy Co. Sugar Free & Low Carb Milk Peanut Butter Cups, 5 ounce bags
• Ultimate Confections Peanut Butter Crisp (A Chocolate Bark), 16 ounces
• Ultimate Nut & Candy Co. Peanut Butter Jars, 16 ounces

Honest Foods is recalling select choco peanut butter baked whole food bars. No illness has been reported. The recalled bars were sold at grocery and natural foods stores around the country, as well as online. Details: by phone at 858-922-2739.

Funway Snack Foods is recalling Funway Caramel Apples that contain peanut products. No known illnesses have been reported, according to the company. The products were distributed in California, Arizona and Nevada through retail food stores, wholesalers and direct to customer sales. Funway Caramel apples distributed from Feb. 1 to Feb. 23, 2009, are involved in the recall. Affected products can be identified by best before dates from Feb. 17, 2009, to March 10, 2009.
