Two vehicles collide on Highway 63

COLUMBIA — Two vehicles collided on Highway 63 near the Stadium Boulevard exit Friday at 4:09 a.m., according to a news release by the Columbia Police Department.

Konrad A. Monie, 28, of Columbia, was driving his vehicle southbound on Highway 63 when he collided into the back of a vehicle driven by Martha A. Knuppel, 38, of Cairo.

The impact forced Monie off the road, flipping his vehicle while Knuppel drove into a fence.

Knuppel was taken to the hospital in an ambulance with moderate injuries. Monie was taken to the hospital by police with minor injuries. According to the release, police suspected Monie of being intoxicated when the accident occurred.
