Elderly killings in Bolivar called murder-suicide

Sunday, March 22, 2009 | 6:16 p.m. CDT

BOLIVAR — Police in Bolivar say an elderly couple found shot to death in a senior citizens home was the result of a murder-suicide.

Police Chief Michael Seibert says it was a married couple that was separated.

Seibert says the woman showed up at her husband's apartment at the Rose Park Senior Citizens Center on Saturday and shot him twice — once in the back and again in the neck.

She then called police before shooting herself.

Police say they think family issues were the cause.

The names of the couple have not been released.
