Flash flood warning posted until 7:45 p.m.

COLUMBIA — A flash flood warning was posted for Boone County until 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service issued the warning at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday after fielding reports from law enforcement about flood waters over Brown School Road near Highway 763 on Columbia's north side. Flooding was also reported on Fox Hollow Road west of Ashland, according to the Weather Service.

Joint Communications Center also reported flooding at 2:05 p.m. on Wilcox Road at the Twin Bridges on Route E. For the latest on road closing in Boone County, click here.

Thunderstorms ahead of a cold front sweeping across the state produced 2 to 3 inches of rain over parts of Boone, western Audrain and Monroe counties since Tuesday morning, the Weather Service reported. At 2 p.m., Sanborn Field on the MU campus had recorded .95 of an inch of rain.

A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. The Weather Service reminded residents to not attempt crossing swift-flowing waters or waters of unknown depth by foot or by vehicle.
