The following recalls have been announced because the products may be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems:
Awrey Bakeries LLC is voluntarily recalling the lots identified below of the following products:
Product Code ‥7250, Marquise Chocolate Peanut Fantasy Cake, 9" Round; Product Code ‥7290, Marquise Cake Variety Assortment ‥1 9" Round, Product Code ‥374520, Banana Split Ripple Cake, 8" x 8"; Product Code ‥374521, Banana Split Ripple Cake, 8" x 8".
Awrey has no evidence that there is a safety issue with these products; it is taking this action out of an abundance of caution. The products were distributed nationwide to foodservice distributors and supermarkets and sold to consumers through Awrey Outlet Store.

Arya Ice Cream Dist. Co. of Los Angeles is recalling its California Dream Nut Sundae Ice Cream product, citing a salmonella risk.
The affected items were labeled as California Dream King Size Nut Sundae On A Stick, 5 fluid ounces, and marked with the expiration date of Feb. 9, 2009, or Jan. 21, 2010. The products were distributed through wholesalers and direct customer sales in southern California.
No known illnesses or complaints have been reported to date.
Consumers who have purchased the affected products are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund, or return to Arya Ice Cream for credit or exchange. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-888-571-5230.
PaleyBar of Portland, Ore., is expanding its recall of Jam-n-Peanuts Bars, citing a salmonella risk.
The bars were distributed nationwide via the Internet, at Paley's Place Bistro & Bar and through retailers located in the states of Oregon, Washington, Connecticut and New York.
There have been no illnesses or complaints reported in connection with the bars, according to the company.
The recall affects Jam-n-Peanuts Bars with UPC codes 897426000024 for a single bar and 897426000123 for a box of 12 bars. The affected bars have "best by" dates of: July 23, 2009, March 18, 2009, Jan. 23, 2008, March 23, 2008, June 28, 2008, and Aug. 29, 2008.
