Over the past year, I was a member of the Water and Light Task Force that, working with the engineering firm of Burns and McDonnell, was charged by the City Council to make recommendations about Columbia’s energy future. These are daunting issues, given rapidly changing economic and energy policies and developments.
To the best of my recollection, the only council member who attended some of our meetings, and by doing so developed an informed understanding of these complicated issues, was Barbara Hoppe. She is a person of impressive energy, able (and willing!) to plow through long, complex documents. If she needs to expand her awareness of an issue or a technicality, she does not hesitate to contact those who can provide or interpret that information.
The Sixth Ward is indeed blessed to have such a dedicated, hardworking, open-minded representative on the council, and I urge those so fortunate to re-elect her.
