The Columbia College softball team swept visiting Hannibal-LaGrange on Tuesday to remain undefeated in American Midwest Conference play at 4-0.
The No. 24 Cougars were led by sophomore pitcher Valerie Teter, who shutout the Lady Trojans (12-12) in both games, 7-0 and 8-0. She improved her record to 11-3 from the mound, and the Cougars improved to 16-7 overall. Kacey Rehagen relieved Teter for the final two innings in the first game.
Teter’s four wins from the mound last week earned her NAIA National Pitcher of the Week and the AMC Pitcher of the Week. She allowed only one run in 34 1/3 innings pitched last week, including a no-hitter against Mount Vernon.
Teter also led the way hitting Tuesday, going 4-for-4 with five runs scored against the Trojans. Jena Strobel also had four hits for the day.
Next up for the Cougars is a doubleheader at 2 p.m Wednesday at Illinois-Springfield.
