LETTER: Hoppe makes crucial decisions

I write in support of Barbara Hoppe because I believe her council vote is crucial to maintaining Columbia as a vibrant, successful community. Our city is a desirable place to live and work but it will remain so only through careful stewardship.

Barb has a common-sense approach to her positions. She recognizes that for Columbia to prosper, we must make responsible decisions regarding development and the use of city resources. Current City Council vote tallies tend to be 4-3 on many issues of significant importance. Barb can be counted on to cast her vote in favor of what is good for our community now and for the next generation. She realizes that capitulation to irresponsible development will degrade our community and cause us to lose much of what is special about Columbia. She realizes that in order to promote economic prosperity, our community must maintain its diverse character to keep and attract quality jobs.

Barb is responsive and available to her constituents. She has done a lot to preserve and protect our neighborhoods. We cannot afford to lose Barb’s vote on the City Council. I encourage my fellow Sixth Ward residents to cast their votes for Barb Hoppe.
