Missouri Senate OKs six Nixon appointees

JEFFERSON CITY — Senators confirmed Gov. Jay Nixon's appointments to several powerful state boards and commissions Thursday.

Former Democratic Party chairman Joe Carmichael of Springfield was approved for the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission and his wife, Rose Marie Carmichael, was approved for the Missouri Development Finance Board along with former Democratic lawmaker and attorney Brian May of Eureka.

Senators also approved the appointment of attorney Don Downing, a Democrat from Webster Groves, to the UM System Board of Curators.

Attorney Dennis Tesreau of Herculaneum was confirmed to the state Mental Health Commission.

Lisa Green, the wife of state Sen. Tim Green, D-St. Louis, was confirmed to the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
