Motorcycle collides with second vehicle Friday night

Emergency response members load a motorcyclist that was involved in a vehicle collision into a Boone Hospital Center ambulance on Friday night. A motorcycle and a four-door Pontiac Grand Prix collided on Providence Road just north of Stewart Road. None of the four occupants of the passenger car were injured. The emergency response members would comment on the status of the motorcyclist.

COLUMBIA —  A motorcycle collided with a vehicle near the corner of Elm Street and Providence Road at 9:47 pm Friday. The motorcycle attempted to turn north out of a parking lot at 405 South Providence when it struck the other vehicle.

According to a release from the Columbia Police Department, Vern Dennis, 39, the driver of the motorcycle, was believed to be intoxicated and was taken to the hospital for injuries.

Melodie Record, 31, the driver of the second vehicle, and her three passengers were not injured. Charges have not been filed yet.
