Missouri holds first spring football scrimmage

The Missouri football team held its first full scrimmage of spring practice Saturday, with the offense beating the defense 60-54 based on the coaching staff's scoring system.

Sophomore quarterback Blaine Gabbert, Missouri's expected starter, finished 27-for-37 with 203 yards passing, one touchdown and one interception. Freshman quarterbacks Blaine Dalton and Ashton Glaser each attempted 23 passes, with Dalton completing 13 and Glaser 12. In total, Missouri's quarterbacks threw for one touchdown and four interceptions, two by sophomore Jimmy Costello.

Redshirt sophomore running back De'Vion Moore was on the receiving end of Gabbert's touchdown pass. Sophomore tight end Michael Egnew led the Tigers in catches (eight) and receiving yards (68).

Senior running back Shawn Scott scored the day's first touchdown on a 50-yard fake reverse run. Scott led running backs with 14 carries for 62 yards and two touchdowns.

On the defensive side, senior linebacker Sean Weatherspoon was one of four Tigers with interceptions.

Redshirt sophomore kicker Grant Ressel was five-for-five on field goals, four of them 40 yards or longer.
