Anderson receives national coaching honor

Missouri men's basketball coach Mike Anderson was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches Co-Coach of the Year on Sunday, sharing the award with former Memphis and current Kentucky coach John Calipari.

Anderson was recognized at the NABC's national convention on Sunday night in Detroit.

Entering his third season, Anderson and the Tigers exceeded expectations. Missouri finished with a school-record 31 wins, a Big 12 Conference title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight. The Tigers were also the most improved team in the country, winning 15 more games than they did the previous season.

Anderson is the first Missouri basketball coach to win a national coaching award since Norm Stewart won the Associated Press' Coach of the Year honor in 1994.
