COLUMBIA — Reports of an armed robbery at 2101 W. Ash St. early Wednesday morning were false, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.
Richard Nole, 19, was arrested on felony stealing charges after allegedly conspiring with two co-defendants, Nathan Dinwiddie, 19, and Alec McCabe, 18, who staged a robbery at a Break Time in west Columbia, the release said.
At about 3:20 a.m., Dinwiddie and McCabe entered the convenience store demanding money from Nole, who was working at Break Time at the time of the staged robbery, according to the release. The suspects claimed to be armed but did not show any weapons. They left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, tobacco products and Missouri Lottery products.
Police obtained a search warrant that was served at Dinwiddie’s residence at 3901 St. Charles Road. They arrested Dinwiddie on felony stealing charges and secured evidence from the residence.
Alec McCabe is still at large and wanted for felony stealing charges, the release said.
