Man attempted robbery of Smiley Lane Taco Bell

COLUMBIA — Sunday at 1:55 a.m., police officers responded to an attempted robbery of the Taco Bell at 1100 Smiley Lane, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

The release stated that a man in a white, four-door vehicle pointed a handgun at a 23-year-old employee working at the restaurant's drive-thru window. The employee then backed away from the window, and the suspect left the scene heading southbound on Rangeline Street.

There were no injuries or shots reported and nothing was stolen, according to the release. As of midday Sunday, no further information was available.
