Sen. Claire McCaskill has taken some heat as she tours the state for “kitchen table” discussions. Very large crowds have taken advantage of the opportunity to question the senator, and not only with friendly inquiries. Sen. McCaskill had answered with frankness to explain her support for the Economic Recovery Act, the Employee Free Choice Act, the 2010 budget and her vote against the omnibus budget bill. She is very clear on her stand against earmarks and her desire to reform our health care system.
On Wednesday, April 15, Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer will have the opportunity to speak with Congressional constituents about our health care challenges. Will he attend the event sponsored by GRO-Grass Roots Organizing as part of the Health Care for America Now coalition, or will he continue to just speak to “safe” groups? Here is a chance for dialogue with people in the district who are looking for solutions and want to understand the Congressman’s positions.
I hope to see Rep. Luetkemeyer on Wednesday at 6:30 at the Labor Temple in Columbia. I hope that on Tax Day he will be willing to explain why we currently spend $56 billion on uncompensated care instead of getting people insured.
