PrintCOLUMBIA — A MU athletics department employee was arrested Tuesday by Fulton police on suspicion of sexual misconduct against three female MU students after giving them alcohol at his home, according to a Fulton Police Department news release.
Francis "Frank" Hoelzeman, 40, of 1 Heather St., was arrested on suspicion of four counts of sexual misconduct, four counts of supplying alcohol to a minor and one count of false imprisonment. His wife, Deidre Hoelzemann,42, was arrested on suspicion of four counts of supplying alcohol to a minor.
On April 9, the students went to a dinner party at the Hoelzemans' home, according to the release.
The students called the police and told officers that Hoelzeman gave them alcohol and once they were intoxicated, fondled and groped them throughout the night, according to the release. It also stated that while trying to leave Hoelzeman's home, one student was physically assaulted.
During the investigation, a 17-year-old young woman told police she had been touched inappropriately by Hoelzeman after drinking several alcoholic beverages at the home, the release states. She also told police her cell phone and coat were taken from her to keep her from leaving.
A part-time events assistant since April 2004, Hoelzeman was responsible for supervising staff helping with entry-level security, cleanup and other ushering activities at the MU sports complex, which includes Mizzou Arena and the Hearnes Center.
MU spokesman Christian Basi would not say whether the three MU students worked with Hoelzeman at MU.
Both Frank and Deidre Hoelzeman have been released from Callaway County Jail after posting bond.
Basi said Frank Hoelzeman ceased employment at MU, effective Monday. Basi said he could not comment on whether Hoelzeman was fired or why he was released from his position a day before he was arrested.
Neither Fulton Police Chief Steven Myers, nor Lt. Andre L. Cook, who wrote the news release, could be reached for comment Tuesday. Both were participating in department training exercises and were out of the office for most of the day.
Messages left on the Hoelzemans' home phone were not returned. A woman who answered the Hoelzemans' home phone, but who did not identify herself, hung up when asked if she would speak with the Missourian.

I'm surprised that Frank and Deidre weren't charged with kidnapping as well!
What are under aged kids doing out partying in the first place in the home of adults?
Why did an M.U. employee even think about allowing under aged kids into his home and allowing them to drink in the first place?
That is the real question as didn't their parents teach them anything about safety and keeping themselves from getting into this kind of trouble?
Obviously not to the latter.
