COLUMBIA – At the end of a week-long voting race, the Central Missouri Humane Society is currently leading a competition that could earn the animal shelter a $1 million makeover.

Out of 10 shelters located across the country, one will be deemed the winner based on the number of votes cast by Zootoo's registered voters.

Zootoo, a social networking Web site for pet lovers, gives its members 10 votes a day every day until the competition is over.  The Central Missouri Humane Society is currently in the lead with 1,609,900 points, as of Friday morning; the St. Tammany Humane Society of Covington, La., is in a close second with 1,131,776 points.

The second shelter makeover competition is in its final voting stage, which is scheduled to end April 19. The winner will be announced April 22 in USAToday.

("At the end of a week-long voting race, the Central Missouri Humane Society is currently leading a competition that could earn the animal shelter a $1 million makeover.")
Is there a million dollars in "prize money" at stake or is this just an "awareness/fund raising" promotion?
I believe in truth in advertising. When will this "social networking Web site for pet lovers" become more above board with this kind of hype?
Tug on my heartstrings, if you must, but please don't make me feel like I've been deceived.

[FreeTalkColumbiaMO] CMHS not winning

Just heard on the news about the Zootoo contest with the Central MO Humane Society. They said most of the runners in the contest have doubled their votes but we haven't quite done that. We only have three days left! Please get the word out. We've GOT to get more votes!!!
