Missouri baseball wins third in a row

COLUMBIA —  The Missouri baseball team scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to beat N0. 21 Kansas State on the road 4-3, overcoming a two run deficit in the process.

The win was career win No. 500 for Missouri coach Tim Jamieson.

Trailing 2-0 to start the inning, junior Aaron Senne led of with a double followed by junior Greg Folgia reaching base on an infield single. Junior Trevor Coleman then slammed his team-leading sixth home run to put the Tigers (21-19, 8-9 Big 12) ahead for good at 3-2 win. Senior Kyle Mach followed by hitting his second home run of the season to give MU a two-run lead.

Kansas State tried to a rally in the bottom of the inning, stringing together  four singles in a row and scoring one run.  Junior Kyle Gibson shut the door, though, nabbing the win and picking up his fifth complete game of the season.

 All of Jamieson's wins have come at Missouri, and his career record in 16 seasons is now 500-346-2.

Gibson moved his record to 6-3 on the year. He struck out nine and did not walk a batter in the game.

Kansas State (28-10, 7-6) scored first in the third inning when Dane Yelovich doubled and was brought home on a single by Carter Jurica. Jurica had three of the Wildcats' seven hits in the game, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. The Wildcats made it a 2-0 in the sixth on an RBI double from Jason King.

The teams play again in Manhattan, Kan., at 2 p.m. Saturday.
