A 36-year-old man was shot in the arm Monday night as he drove down Grand Avenue near Fourth Street. His injuries were not life threatening.

Columbia police received several calls around 10:30 p.m. reporting shots fired and a gunshot victim.

The victim said he was driving when someone started shooting at him. He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital.

Police officers recovered shell casings on the street near the Fourth and Grand intersection. The suspect, only described as wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, took off in an unknown direction.

The case has been turned over to Columbia Police Department's Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information is asked to visit the CrimeStoppers Web site, 875tips.com. Information that leads to an arrest might warrant a $1500 reward.

SO when are they all gonna just kill each other and get it over with? Maybe we should give em shotguns so they can at least hit the people they're shooting at and not innocent bystanders....I mean just a thought..

Gang related or isolated incident?
("A 36-year-old man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after suffering a gunshot to the arm last night while driving on Grand Avenue, Columbia police Sgt. Barbara Buck said.

Police today continued searching for the shooter, a black male with a hooded sweatshirt, Buck said.")
