A 36-year-old man was shot in the arm Monday night as he drove down Grand Avenue near Fourth Street. His injuries were not life threatening.
Columbia police received several calls around 10:30 p.m. reporting shots fired and a gunshot victim.
The victim said he was driving when someone started shooting at him. He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital.
Police officers recovered shell casings on the street near the Fourth and Grand intersection. The suspect, only described as wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, took off in an unknown direction.
The case has been turned over to Columbia Police Department's Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information is asked to visit the CrimeStoppers Web site, 875tips.com. Information that leads to an arrest might warrant a $1500 reward.
