KANSAS CITY — Six stolen refrigerator trucks have turned up in Kansas City minus most of their food.
The missing food includes about $60,000 worth of frozen chicken, which has prompted police to warn the public to only buy frozen chicken from reputable vendors.
Sgt. Keith Ericsson said there is a public safety concern because authorities don't know how the chicken has been transported or kept.
Authorities found the trailers Monday in Kansas City with the help of a tracking device.
Most of the food already had removed from the trailers.
Police and the United States Department of Agriculture are investigating.
