Missouri's Lee wins women's hammer throw at Drake Relays

COLUMBIA – Krishna Lee led the Missouri track and field team in Des Moines, Iowa, with an individual championship in the women’s hammer throw at the Drake Relays on Saturday.

Lee threw 187 feet, 11 inches, while teammate Elisha Hunt’s throw of 183 feet, 4 inches was good for third place in the event.

Kaela Rorvig earned third place in the women’s long jump with a jump of 19 feet, 8 inches.

The shuttle relay team of Woolridge, Rorvig, Begany and Boldt ran posted a time of 58.88 seconds in the prelims, which is one of the top 15 times in the country. In the finals heat, Missouri finished second behind Alabama.

For the men, Chris Rohr grabbed second in the men’s hammer throw with a toss of more than 235 feet. Rohr also finished sixth in the dicus with a throw of 173 feet, one inch.

The men’s 1600-meter sprint medly team of Ryan Blackwell, Jerron Forte, Chris Davis and Blake Irwin finished sixth in its heat and sixth overall with a time of 3:24.30.

The men’s distance medly relay team finished fourth in the last race of the day with a time of 9:45.26.

The Tigers are on the road again next as they will head to Fayetteville for the Arkansas Twilight meet on Friday.
