COLUMBIA — Central Missouri Humane Society is the winner of Zootoo.com's shelter makeover, according to an article by USA Today.

Amanda Huhman and Libby Burkes,  the two 13-year-old girls attributed with raising awareness about the competition and the local shelter, were celebrating Sunday night.

"We were really, really excited," Amanda said.  "I was jumping around the house screaming.  My inbox was full in like five minutes.  My instant message was going off.  I think I was even dancing with the dog."

The Central Missouri Humane Society was one of 10 finalists in the contest, which was sponsored by Zootoo.com. Zootoo's registered users voted for their favorite shelter up to 10 times per day.

The humane society will be holding a press conference Monday at 9 a.m. at 616 Big Bear Blvd.

I hope it's not going to be like putting lipstick on a pig.

Or painting the toe nails on a dog or using food coloring to dye a bunny pink.
