Missouri baseball sweeps Texas Tech

The Missouri baseball team scored in every inning but one to beat the Texas Tech Red Raiders 15-2. The game was stopped after seven innings due to a Big 12 Conference mercy rule.

"The thing is we played well," Missouri coach Tim Jamieson said. "That's the thing above all us, and then you get the big guy going, it makes you feel a whole lot better not just that you win, but the way we played makes you feel really good about the rest of the year."

It is the first time this season that Missouri has swept an opponent during a weekend series. The win puts the Tigers (24-21, 11-10) in sixth place in the Big 12.

Senior outfielder Ryan Lollis had four hits including a two-run home run and five RBIs. Every batter in the Missouri lineup reached base at least once.

"I was seeing the ball pretty well," Lollis said. "My brother actually called me last night, and he gave me suggestions. I don't know if that's what did it, but I took it to heart and worked on it today and hit the ball well."

Starting pitcher Nick Tepesch pitched a complete game striking out nine. Tepesch struggled his last two starts, losing both and giving up 14 earned runs.

"I just tried to learn from what I did wrong in the previous two outings, and today I just tried to simplify things and keep it as simple as possible," Tepesch said. "I was feeling like I could put the ball wherever I wanted it. I just felt really comfortable and everything was working for me today."

Missouri plays Eastern Illinois at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O'Fallon.  The Panthers are 32-9.
