The Hickman girls’ soccer team lost 2-0 to St. Dominic on Monday evening at a tournament in O'Fallon.
“We played pretty well,” Kewpies coach Tony Gragnani said by phone. “St. Dominic is a tough opponent. We had about three or four opportunities to score some goals, we were just unable to finish them.”
Gragnani praised the effort of Hickman goalkeeper Monica Ross.
“She came up with several unbelievable saves and kept us in the game,” Gragnani said.
Despite the loss, Gragnani said he has high hopes for his team's future.
“We play tomorrow and Thursday and hopefully we can keep taking those steps towards districts,” Gragnani said.
Hickman (5-8-1) will face O’Fallon at 6 p.m. Tuesday then play Timberland at 6 p.m. Thursday. Both games are at Francis Howell North in St. Charles.
