COLUMBIA — Farmers who lost money when a northwest Missouri grain dealer went out of business will soon learn how much they can expect to recover from state regulators.
The Missouri Department of Agriculture has set a May 28 administrative hearing at Gallatin High School. The hearing starts at 6:30 p.m.
Gallatin grain dealer Danny Froman gave up his state licenses in February after an audit revealed financial discrepancies. State auditors identified 109 claims from affected farmers.
A state investigation of an Audrain County grain dealer continues. At least 120 farmers filed compensation claims against T.J. Gieseker Farms and Trucking of Martinsburg. Agriculture officials have said that losses in that case could approach $15 million.
