COLUMBIA — Helias edged Hickman by one stroke at a quadrangular hosted by Rock Bridge on Tuesday at Old Hawthorne. Helias shot a 315, Hickman 316, Rock Bridge 320 and Jefferson City 322.
Will Nixon from Jefferson City won with an even-par 72. Alex Knoll from Helias shot a 73 and Hickman’s Taylor Cox shot a 74.
Cruz Buchanan was the next best Hickman golfer with a 77, followed by Mike Wilson (82), Tyler Daly (83) and Graham Lloyd (88).
Tyler Cornell led the Bruins with a 77, Tyler Kolb followed with an 80 and Wilson Sundvold shot an 81.
Rock Bridge coach Doug Daniels said he was not pleased with the Bruins' finish, but he does not think it will hurt the team at districts next Tuesday at Old Kinderhook Golf Course in Camdenton.
“We’re going through a bad stretch, but we’ll be fine next week. A week is like a lifetime,” Daniels said. “Sometimes they just need a few days off.”
