Missouri Attorney General raps Craigslist over erotic services ads

ST. LOUIS  — Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster is demanding a meeting with Craigslist.

Chris Koster told KMOX Radio on Tuesday afternoon that the online ad service still hosts an "erotic services" section months after promising to crack down on illegal sex trade. Koster says the site has been pulling some of the ads, but not enough.

Since last year, Craigslist has been under pressure to stop prostitution on its site. That pressure has intensified following the arrest of a man accused of killing a masseuse he hired through an online ad.

Craigslist CEO Jim Buckmaster last week defended the "erotic services" classification on its site. He said users requested it so those ads would be posted there, where users can avoid them, instead of being scattered among other ad categories.
