COLUMBIA — The Wally Byam Caravan Club International, a society of Airstream trailer owners, is holding a rally at the Boone County Fairgrounds this week.
The society consists of 12 units across the U.S. and Canada that hold annual rallies to share their passion for their unique RVs.
What: Wally Byam Caravan Club International Region 8 Rally Open House
When: 1:30 to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 2
Where: Boone County Fairgrounds, 5212 N. Oakland Gravel Road
Admission: The public is free to visit and spectate, but only members of the WBCCI may participate in activities. During the open house, vintage trailers will be open for the public to see, as well as trailers owned by WBCCI members.
The Airstream trailer is notable for its reflective aluminum skin and aerodynamic shape. Wally Byam, the trailer’s inventor, named it such because the trailer cruised down the road “like a stream of air.”
