JEFFERSON CITY — A survivor from the deadly Virginia Tech shooting is denouncing a Missouri effort to allow concealed weapons at public colleges.
The state House has approved legislation that would let those licensed to carry a concealed weapon bring their firearms onto public college campuses. The measure has not passed the Senate.
Colin Goddard was shot four times at Virginia Tech in 2007. He said Wednesday it "was the craziest situation imaginable" but could have been worse if more people were carrying guns. Goddard argued that letting people legally carry a gun could make it more difficult for police to figure out who is causing the problem.
Some bill supporters have cited the Virginia Tech shooting while urging passage of the legislation.
