The Hickman boys track and field team won two events to earn second Friday at the 18-team Lee's Summit Invitational.

“We had a fine showing,” Hickman coach Steve Kissane said.

Marcus Whitt won the 400 in 51.2 seconds and took part in the Kewpies winning 4 x 400 relay (3:26.07). Jimmy Garth led, followed by Whitt, Cody Rios, and Terrell Shannon anchored.

Jimmy Garth was third in the 800 meter run in 1:58 and Kahri Gant was third in the 200 meters in 22.59.

Pole vaulter Nate Little achieved a personal best of 13 feet for fourth place. Sophomore Wesley Leftwich was fifth in the 100 meters and sixth in the 200 meters.

“We had kids scoring all over,” Kissane said.

Kissane said he was pleased with his team’s performance. Halfway through the meet, Hickman was in fourth place, but worked its way up to second. Lee’s Summit West won the event.

“We stayed positive the entire meet, they are an awesome group to work with,” Kissane said.

The Hickman girls track and field team competes Saturday at Parkway South.
