POPLAR BLUFF — The Secret Service and southeast Missouri authorities are investigating Internet threats against President Obama, local law officers and a school.

Four postings appeared on the Internet message board Topix from Poplar Bluff in a 10-minute span late Tuesday, the eve of Obama's visit to suburban St. Louis.

The first two postings were death threats against Poplar Bluff Police Chief Danny Whiteley and Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs. The third threatened the life of Obama, who hosted a town hall meeting in Arnold on Wednesday.

The final posting said bombs were planted at police headquarters, the courthouse and a school. No bombs were found.

Whiteley said investigators narrowed the search for the poster to a one-block area and seized four computers. Police have interviewed 15 people, but no arrests have been made.
