Missouri baseball completes sweep of Nebraska

For the Missouri baseball team, it's better late than never.

After starting the season ranked No. 10 in the country by Baseball America, the Tigers opened Big 12 conference play by losing four of its first five conference series.

Now, the Tigers are starting to roll.

Missouri beat Nebraska 12-9 on Sunday afternoon in Lincoln, Neb., to sweep the Huskers for the first time in Lincoln since 1963 and to catapult itself into fourth place in the Big 12 standings, one game behind first-place Texas. 

It is the second consecutive Big 12 series sweep for the Tigers, who have won eight of their last nine conference games and seven straight games overall.

The Tigers hit three home runs and starting pitcher Nick Tepesch struck out five batters and walked none to earn the victory. 

First baseman Steve Gray hit a home run and had four RBIs. Gray had seven RBIs this weekend. Second baseman Austin Holt and designated hitter Connor Mach also hit home runs.

Nebraska (21-26-1, 5-19) attempted a comeback in the ninth, scoring three times and getting the tying run to the plate before falling short.
